The process

The ideal CLS(X) knee brace

This is how we work

When it comes to customising knee braces, we at B&C custom bracing only aim for the best result. Our team consists of star players, each with their own unique profession. We combine technical knowledge with sports orthopaedic knowledge and go through every step in the process with you to arrive at the ideal knee brace. This is what that process looks like.

1. The intake appointment

Fitting the ideal knee brace starts with asking the right questions. What are your own wishes and needs for your brace? What sports do you practice and what results do you want to achieve there? In a short interview, our orthopaedic technologists try to collect all the relevant information to create your optimal brace. They also check the anatomy of your knees to see if they need to apply any special adjustments or features to your unique design.

Scanapparatuur

2. Scanning

B&C custom bracing then scans your leg to generate the exact measurements of your anatomy. We use a high-tech scanner to guarantee a high-quality scan.

We work in a digital workflow and have to deal with only two variables: a scan variable that can deviate slightly and a 3D printer that processes the data. Every step is measurable, traceable and reversible. A scan is made of each leg separately because they are almost never symmetrical. This also means that each leg gets its own unique brace that will fit optimally.

3. Design the ideal brace

After the scanning process is complete, we process the scans in the design software. B&C custom bracing has its own software, which was developed in Canada, to help us with the adjustment. This software allows us to generate the ideal individual brace for each leg.

4. 3D Printing

The next step is printing. B&C custom bracing owns a high-end 3D fused deposition modelling (FDM) printer. This is a printer that builds up a product line by line from a filament. These machine specifications combined with our protocol ensure a very accurate copy of the leg and a true copy of the brace.

This process, in combination with a material that is a composite of carbon and nylon, generates a high-quality brace shell around your leg. The carbon material is lightweight. This, together with the optimised fit and the hinge system, ensures that the athlete’s freedom of movement is not hindered. At the same time, the brace is very strong and offers protection. This combination provides the ideal material properties for a brace that is used in various (high-impact) activities.

5. Assembly

After designing and printing, we assemble the brace to make it complete. This is all done by hand with the utmost attention for quality, with the most high quality and durable materials on the market. This way we guarantee that this process promises a  custom-made brace with the exceptional quality and fitting. With all this attention and care, we hope your CLS or CLSX brace will help you embrace your adventures.
